Chashme Shahi garden in Srinagar is one of the mughal gardens in srinagar. Chashme shahi is small as compared to other mughal gardens and was very crowded when we arrived. The view from pari mahal is much better as compared to this garden. If you are looking to spend some time in piece or relax at garden, this is not the right place for you. It is just like marking a tick on your tourist attractions in Srinagar. Spending some 30 to 40 minutes is enough for this garden. Don’t forget to taste the spring water at this garden as it is the best thing about this garden.

Chashme Shahi is one of the most famous gardens of Srinagar. The garden is full of various types of colorful flowers. It is garden with water fountain whose natural pristine drinking water is considered mystical as it is flowing uninterrupted for decades. The water tastes better than mineral water and I even took some water in bottle for its refreshing taste. Most of the tourists and even locals fill their water bottle here. Don’t think about the quality of water, it is clean and being drunk from decades. Visiting this garden is must for drinking this special water and all the gardens are located nearby so it is not going to take much time.

Chashme Shahi was the first garden we visited in Srinagar. The highlight of this place is the water spring flowing through the middle of the garden. It is nicely maintained garden famous for spring water. The water here is considered curative. Don’t know about the curative fact but water is definitely cold and sweet. After Chashme Shahi we visited nishat bagh and nishat bagh is much better in terms of garden and flower. It is just another mughal garden with terrace type structure. But it is good to visit this garden for half an hour and taste the cold water, as you won’t get spring water in Nishat Bagh

Apart from the water spring, there is nothing different to see in Chashme Shahi. The water fountain is the unique thing of Chashme shahi that attracts most of the tourists visiting Srinagar here. The water feels great but if you are not to keen for this magical water, you can give this place a miss. Also, what upset me was other tourist washing their feet at the same place where other tourist were drinking water. The same flowers and garden can be seen in other mughal gardens. Visit this garden only if you want to taste the water. It can be done quickly as well being located close to other gardens.

If you are visiting Chashme Shahi anywhere between april to august, this is going to be super crowded. But it is also the best time to visit because flowers are in full bloom particularly from april to july. The flowers will be in full bloom and you can find variety of flowers during this season. If you want to spend some good relaxing time and see less crowd, it is best to visit the garden in morning. The garden opens at 7 a.m and you can try to reach by 8a.m and finish the garden before crowd turns in. It gets really crowded after 10 a.m and it is good to start your day with this garden. Don’t forget to taste the water, it is refreshing.

I can never forget my visit to chashme shahi and the water we had from the water spring of the garden. The water is magical and relieves your tiredness in seconds. I have heard that pandit JahawarLal Nehru and Indira Gandhi ji used to have water here and even get this water transported to Delhi. The water is coming down from hills and believed to be medicinal properties. You can also buy seed packets of various flowers here. The mughal architecture and flowers are also nice. We visited this garden early morning and got some sandwiches packed from our hotel for breakfast. It was great to have breakfast at this lovely garden. Must visit.

We visited Chashme Shahi in the month of May last year and the garden was in full bloom. It is a must visit if you are a botanical lover and would love the blooming flowers of the garden. There are three mughal garden in Srinagar of which Shalimar garden is the largest, nishat bagh comes second and Chashme shahi is the smallest of all. But people visit this garden mainly for the water spring flowing in middle of garden around which the whole garden is built. The entry charge is nominal about Rs 20 per person only. Me and my family loved Chashme Shahi and it is worth visiting if you are in Srinagar,Kashmir.
