Do make it a point to visit Shankaracharya hill, while you are in Srinagar. You will not find any cheat or touts at this place due to good security by CRPF. I could easily climb the stairs and enjoyed the marvellous panromic views of the valley on the top. If you have to see all of Srinagar at once, then you must visit this place.

The hill is near to Dal lake and you need to take an auto rickshaw till security checkpoint. You will have to deposit your camera and mobile at the security. Even leather belts are not allowed in the temple. The panoramic view of entire Srinagar valley is definitely worth climbing around 250 stairs.

It is believed that Shankaracharya did his meditation on this hill. You will have to climb more than 200 stair steps to reach the temple. The stairs are not that steep and you can easily make it if you healthy. Elders may climb slowly taking rest at mid-way points

You won't find many photographs of the place to get a good idea of this attraction, as CRPF security does not allow cameras at this place. Still, it's a good place to visit to get a bird's eye view of Srinagar, which is lovely!
