After sight-seeing at the park, you can definitely drive to the Lohagarh Fort which is very close to the bird sanctuary.
This is particularly one of my favorites and sharing my personal experience, this place is a must visit for a weekend getaway from Delhi. Neemrana has 72 rooms & suites and proposes to you a magical site with a lot of feasts, celebrations and memories. Ideally, you must visit this place between July and March. You can witness refreshing as well as soothing monsoons with pleasant winters. Reaching this place is going to be a two and a half hour drive from Delhi. Neemrana is definitely going to rejuvenate you and your kids and give you that feeling of how the kings used to live. You can have a one day trip that would cost you around INR 1900 or even have a full weekend holiday for around INR 11,000 with a huge lunch buffet, fitness centre, full-service spa and a café. You can also be a part of the weekend cultural activities that are organised inside the palace by the Neemrana Music Foundation after a free wonderful breakfast during your stay. You can get off with all the stress at the Raj Kund, the pool which lets you enjoy the Ayurveda massages. This fort hosts India’s first aerial experience with the Zip Tour which is one of the most thrilling things to do with your kids at the fort.
Lansdowne is a beautiful hill station located in the Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. It is not a very famous place but saying it is not a great weekend getaway from Delhi would not be justifiable. It is surrounded by mesmerizing hills all around and will certainly give you a moment of serenity as soon as you reach. You can enjoy a lot of activities like trekking, paddling, boating and bird watching in Lansdowne. If you visit with your kids, it’s very likely to expect an adventurous trip.
Summers are considered to be very hot and humid for this hill station but still, the temperature does not rise to more than 30 degree Celsius. The best time to visit Lansdowne would be during winters as you can witness snowfall with just a six hour drive from Delhi. Another attraction of this place is the Kanvashram which is an ashram that is fully surrounded by lush green trees and gives you a spectacular view of the river, Malini.
You can also visit the Bhula Tal which is a man-made artificial lake perfect for a day out. The lake has a cool tenor and relaxed surroundings for tourists to appreciate. You can easily spot ducks, play with rabbits, lie under the beautiful and green trees and also enjoy boating with your kids. In short, you can have a wonderful time, feel the breeze and be in all sync with the nature of this hill station. It is advisable to pack sensibly and not go too heavy so it's better to read beforehand about what to pack.
